Weekday lane closures on Hwy 210 through Baxter begin May 5
BAXTER, Minn. – Those who travel on both directions of Hwy 210 through Baxter will encounter lane closures and delays as roadwork begins Monday, May 5, advises the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The $4.5 million project will resurface both directions of Hwy 210 through Baxter, Crow Wing County, between Baxter Drive and Timberwood Drive, and improve access and traffic flow west of Highland Scenic Drive at Memorywood Drive (Figure 1).

- Single-lane closures each way with reduced speeds and changes to local access. Follow signs along north/south Hwy 210 frontage roads.
- Work will occur on weekdays: Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Friday: 7 a.m.-noon. No weekend work.
- In early June, expect overnight lane closures as crews resurface both directions through Baxter.
MnDOT advises travelers to always slow down when approaching a work zone, then navigate through with care and caution. Other reminders:
- Never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment
- Obey posted speed limits; fine for a work zone violation is $300
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel
When complete in early July, motorists will benefit from a smoother road surface, updated drainage, and improved access and safety along Hwy 210 through Baxter.
