Changes coming to Highway 169 and S. Washington Avenue intersection in Saint Peter
MANKATO, Minn. – Motorists using the Highway 169 intersection with S. Washington Avenue, on the south side of Saint Peter, will encounter turning restrictions starting Wednesday, April 16.
Northbound Highway 169 motorists will no longer be able to turn left onto S. Washington Avenue. Similarly, motorists on S. Washington Avenue will no longer be able to turn left onto northbound Highway 169. Instead, motorists will need to utilize alternate routes.
These modifications are in response to the intersection’s poor safety performance – with 13 crashes in the past ten years, three of which resulted in five fatalities. The overwhelming majority of crashes at the intersection have involved left turn movements.
Motorists should plan ahead, pay attention to posted signs, and utilize alternate routes as necessary.
