Public meeting summary
Community members were invited to review the roundabout design, crash history, safety information, and anticipated project timeline. The information was provided at a public meeting Mar. 11, 2025. People not able to attend were directed to review the information below and provide their feedback.
In general, feedback received in-person at the open house was positive. The public’s interests focused mainly on the crash history at the intersection and how the roundabout will affect highway speeds along Hwy 57.
The on-line feedback was split, with various opinions on the proposed project. Those who voiced concerns about the project shared they felt change isn't necessary. Those supporting the roundabout noted the safety benefits and need to prevent future crashes.
Summary of work

The Hwy 57 and Dodge Co. Rd. 16 intersection has a history of right-angle crashes. Right-angle crashes, also known as T-bone crashes, tend to be life-altering or deadly. To reduce these crashes, MnDOT has decided to change the intersection to a roundabout.
The roadway will also be repaved from 9th St. in Mantorville to Dodge Co. Rd. 16. During this work, drainage facilities will also be improved.

When traveling northbound on Highway 57 approaching Dodge Co. Rd. 16, the roundabout design features 6-foot shoulders, 14-foot thru lanes, and a varied median width.
Individuals not able to attend the meeting can review the information below. Please provide any comments or feedback to the project management team through the comments tab.
